GP2 Mount Accessories

The latest option for the GP2 and GPD2 mounts is the new STARBOOK S which incorporates Vixen’s legendary GOTO controller with BUILT IN STAR CHART that shows you exactly where the telescope is pointing and displays “what’s up” right now. The included (and upgradeable) software contains a 22,000 object database giving the user an endless variety of objects to view. Included are drop down menus of different categories of celestial objects, including Stars, Planets, Messier, NGC and other famous objects. Each sub menu only lists the objects that are available to be viewed at that time. This eliminates the frustration of other GOTO systems that don’t tell you the object is below the horizon until after you have selected it. With the Vixen Starbook you will spend more time viewing and less time searching.

The package includes advanced encoded motors for accurate tracking and an auto-guider port and PEC (periodic error correction) are standard features.  All of this makes the GP2 and GPD2 with STARBOOK S the most affordable, quality astro-photographer’s mount available.

This single-axis controller/drive corrector is for use with an optional #3752 Vixen MT-1 right ascension motor drive. These are compatible with the current Vixen Great Polaris, Great Polaris D2, and Great Polaris Economy German Equatorial Mounts and on telescopes using these mounts. It is also compatible with the optional MT-1 on older Super Polaris and Super Polaris DX mounts and scopes.

When controlled by the SD-1, the accuracy of the MT-1 motor drive is within +/0.005% of the sidereal rate. Powered by 6 user supplied C batteries, this will run for approximately 20 hours. An optional #3599 AC Adaptor is available as is an optional #3828 Manual Operation Clutch, recommended if manual turning of RA axis wishes to be retained

Can be used as either a right ascension or declination motor. The motor is controlled and powered by an optional Vixen SD-1 single axis or DD-1 dual axis drive controller. One MT-1 motor is needed for the single axis righ ascension operation or two motors are required for dual-axis operation. When controlled by an SD-1 or DD-1, the accuracy of the MT-1 is withing +/-0.005% of the sidereal rate. The optional 3828 Manual Clutch, described below, is needed if manual operation of either axis is to be retained.

This manual clutch restores the functionality of the slow motion controls when the MT-1 motor is installed on the GP or GPD2 mount. The clutch has a knob that disengages the motor so that the manual control is active. Once the desired adjustments are made. the motors can be re-engaged by turning the knob.

Designed to protect and transport your GP Series Mount, Counter Weights with Shaft and Drive Corrector all in one easy to carry hard case. With a durable aluminum outer shell, and locking latches this case is designed for rugged durability for your remotest of observations.

This Half Pillar provides a 9" extension between the counterweight shaft or longer tube refractor and the tripod legs. In several positions at lower latitudes with the counterweight shaft or just using a longer tube instrument at zenith, the tripod legs can interfere with the proper movement of the telescope. Many users with a longer optical instrument may enjoy the gain in the instrument's elevation from the ground to make viewing more comfortable when viewing objects high in the sky.

This Triangle Accessory tray provides a convenient place to set many of the things and amateur astronomer may be using through the night, eyepiece, chart, red flashlight etc. While not only providing a temporary storage function, this tray also increases the overall stability of the tripod and decreasing any vibrations seen through the telescope. With holes spaced approx 9.5” apart this tray fits many other non standard mounts too.
