This package is designed for the astronomer who wants to expand their system. When The ED81S was introduced , it set a new standard for 80mm APO Refractors. The combination of better color correction from the new ED glass and brighter images from its fast f/7.7 focal ratio will satisfy the most demanding visual astronomer or astro-photographer. The new ED glass produces clear and high contrast viewing, virtually free of false color. The design uses newly developed, environmentally friendly glass technolgy. The optical tube is very stable yet light weight. The top carry handle also includes a 1/2-20 stud for piggyback camera mounting.
The design of the GPD2 mount accomodates the atachment of heavier optical tubes and provides accurate tracking of objects. Choose this package if you think that you’ll want to own just one mount able to expand the optical system you put on it. Here you are getting a worm gear machined to 2/1000ths of a millimeter precision that allows for extremely critical tracking performance needed for Astrophotography. Definitely a package that will keep the best of Amateur Astronomers happy for years to come and still easy to use. Add the DD3 Motor Drive Set for easy tracking. The DD3 Motor Set includes DD-3 controller, two MT-1WT motors and a battery box.
